Meet the team: Beniamino Russo
Beniamino Russo is Professor of Hydraulics and Hydrology at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) and is the Project Coordinator. Get to know his role in ICARIA at a glance:
- What is ICARIA for you? ICARIA is an opportunity to achieve a better understanding of the behaviour of strategic assets under different adverse climate conditions, including complex compound events, direct and indirect impacts, and cascading effects.
- ICARIA in three words: Multi-hazards, asset modelling, and replicability.
- What is your role in ICARIA? I am the scientific coordinator of the project. My role is managing the consortium and trying to ensure that all the scientific activities of the project are developed according to the commitment of the proposal, its KPIs and the indications provided by the EU Commission (through its Project Officer and external reviewers) to guarantee the achievement of the expected results and outcomes. More in general, with the support of all the members of the ICARIA consortium, we are trying to provide methodological and technological solutions to achieve a smart, fast and, above all, systemic adaptation to climate change for EU regions involving all the sectors of local communities.
